RAAF Base Townsville’s existing Defence Fuel Installation (DFI (A)) provides bulk storage of F34 (AVTUR + FSII). The primary objective of the Defence Fuel Transformation Program (DFTP) is to achieve a safer, simplified and assured fuel network. The program seeks to address current and immediate deficiencies at the DFI (A), by undertaking the following key works:

  • A new 1,500 L stainless steel IBC waste tank
  • Conversion of existing 2,500 L waste tank into product recovery tank
  • A new product recovery sampling station including air diaphragm pumps, a closed circuit sampler and a new shelter for this equipment
  • New bulk air eliminators at the offloading bays
  • A new bay load controller with a shelter and new control valve at each dispensing bay
  • A new vapour diversion system at each dispensing bay
  • A new safety shower between the dispensing bays
  • Tank level measurement and venting upgrades
  • New valves, instruments, and equipment
  • New and modified piping for the new equipment
  • Replacement of the existing site air compressor
  • Demolition of redundant infrastructure.
