St Hilliers is nearing completion on construction work at Defence project site, Cultana Training Area (CUTA) in South Australia.
The project consists of a five-fold expansion, with the site set to become the Australian Defence Force’s largest training area capable of supporting combined arms exercises.
The multi-million-dollar redevelopment of the site will assist the Army in preparing troops for combat by providing a safe environment for training.
Included in the build is a new range control centre to coordinate use of the base and an operations layout, which resembles a built-up urban area, to allow troops to train in similar conditions to those in which the Army frequently operates in.
Assistant Minister for Defence, David Fawcett visited the site last week to inspect the new training and range control centre which is due to be ready for use by April.
