Pucka Tops Out!

In late August, the team from St Hilliers, Jacobs, Aurecon/AECOM Joint Venture and Department of Defence at the Armoured Fighting Vehicles Facilities Program works in Puckapunyal, topped out the major concrete structure works. From demolition and major service relocation, this has been a year in the making and forms a key gateway into the finishes and fitout phase of the project.

Overall, the concrete structure for the Simulation Centre spanned a total of approx. 14,500 m2 in deck area, 1,002 tonnes of reinforcement, 5,000 m3 of concrete over six levels. In addition to this, the AFVPUC works are also moving toward completion of the JLU-V workshop (involving additional workshop bays, office accommodation and specialist trade workshops) as well as the School of Armour Ablutions (including amenities and personal equipment cages).

Special mention to the Simulation Centre Team Tim McSweeney (Site Manager), Ben Hall (Site Foreman), Steve Nessis (HSE Officer) and recently Joe Martakis (Project Engineer) for their hard work and ongoing dedication to the project, along with the JLU-V and Work Area 3 team Clive Cox (Site Manager), Carlo Valerio (Site Manager) and Charlie Hyles (Project Engineer).

Well done team and maintain the momentum through to completion!
