St Hilliers undertook the extensive refurbishment of the Shangri-La Hotel, a well known and prominent Sydney landmark, while the 36 floor hotel was occupied and operational.
The scope of works involved the refurbishment and fitout of the level 36 restaurant, the stripout and fitout of the executive lounge on level 30, the refurbishment of 424 guest rooms (levels 6 to 28), extensive modification reconfiguration and fitout of the front of house areas on level 1 and the ground floor.
A detailed staging program was developed in close consultation with the Hotel as it was a requirement that only level 36 and level 30 be shut down whilst all other areas of the Hotel remain operational. Five floors of guest rooms were under construction at any one time and the average cycle time per floor was 20 days.
