Milestone in St George Library Project

St Hilliers has been awarded the construction works of the new landmark library complex in St George, QLD.

The project reached a key milestone last week. Balonne Shire Council Mayor Samantha O’Toole and Councillor Rod Avery have ceremonially turned the first sod on the project after demolition of the old buildings on the site was complete.

“This is an exciting event for the region and people of Balonne Shire. The aim of redeveloping the St George Library – adjacent to the Balonne Shire Council offices in Victoria Street – is to create a vibrant ‘hub’, integrating the library and cultural centre and offering a greater breadth of programs and activities,” Mayor O’Toole said.

“The building will incorporate contemporary library services, a business and learning hub, the new Country Universities Centre and a cultural centre.”

“The project will also create a lively precinct, improving both the functionality of the spaces and creating street appeal in the current central location in Victoria Street.”

St Hilliers is excited to deliver these works for the local community with the new complex expected to be complete and ready for use by the end of the year.
