Randwick is an inner city Council, located 6 kilometres south of the centre of Sydney. It covers an area of 37 square kilometres and has a population of 122,173 making it the largest of the south eastern metropolitan local government areas.
A key civic building in Randwick City since 1882, heritage-listed Randwick Town Hall hosts important functions for the Council but also serves as an important venue for the community as home to citizenship ceremonies, theatre events, election polls, fundraising activities and fairs.
The Project involved the upgrading of the late nineteenth century Randwick Town Hall which is a building of local heritage significance and is included as a heritage item in the Randwick City Council Local Environment Plan.
The stage 1 works for upgrade and refurbishment included:

  • Provision of compliant access to and within the building through the provision of a new entry threshold and modifications to the entry doors
  • Provision of a new accessible lift between ground and first floors
  • New interior finishes
  • Re-roofing of the Main Hall and Frances Street wing
