St Hilliers completed stage 2 of the Mackay Northern Beaches State High School project which involved the Senior Precinct development. The project included:
- purpose built science laboratories – including a university standard biology lab and a robotics lab
- Industrial Technology rooms – including plastics and robotics
- Food studies kitchen
- Art / Media block
- Music / Dance block
- Drama room
- Second staff centre
- ICT rooms
- General teaching rooms
A specifically designed building for students with special needs was also constructed. Works also included a new extension to the existing asphalt car park from 30 to 100 car spaces.
The project was delivered within an operational school and required careful pre-planning followed by monitoring and co-ordination with school user groups and contractors throughout the delivery phase. Regular interaction with the school users, and a commitment to working around their needs has ensured that the project has proceeded to the great satisfaction of the existing school staff and Principal.
