The Canterbury is a major luxury residential complex on an elevated site in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
The scope of works included construction of six maisonettes across two buildings, 22 townhouses of differing levels, a four level building comprising 32 apartments and basement car parking. The project also involved extensive landscaping to provide both communal and private outdoor spaces for residents.
A major feature of the development are the ESD initiatives and the facade treatment. St Hilliers assigned a dedicated Design Manager to co-ordinate all Greenstar components as well as facade and services works.
Working within an established suburban area, St Hilliers was proactive in developing a Construction Management Plan with specific procedures to alleviate the impact of construction for nearby residents.
St Hilliers controlled and coordinated all work to minimise disturbance to the surrounding areas, road networks and services to the site and surrounding buildings.
In particular, it was important to implement strategies to manage traffic, noise, dust, vibration and waste management. Maintaining safe access for nearby residents was also a priority.
