St Hilliers were engaged by Healthe Care Belmont Pty Ltd to complete the Belmont Private Hospital Stage 3 works. The hospital is Queensland’s largest private mental health hospital with 150 patient beds.
The current construction works include a brand new multi-story building on the vacant land at the front of the existing hospital facility. This will include a new multi-level carpark, consulting suites, new perinatal unit and a new adult ward.
There are multiple elements of the construction works that must be well planned and executed to ensure there is minimal disruption to the operational hospital and neighbourhood surrounding. The site will be excluded and secured to ensure the safety of patients, nearby residents, staff and visitors. Un-obstructed access will be maintained to roads, ambulance and delivery routes, egress paths and assembly points around the staged works.
Being a mental health hospital, St Hilliers have put extra precautions in place across the project including high security fencing taking anti-ligature requirements into account, security cameras as well as ensuring all tools and construction equipment is locked away every night.
Workshop sessions were undertaken with project stakeholders where experiences from previous building works completed at the hospital were reviewed. This feedback was developed into a schedule of lessons learnt, enabling refinement of upcoming work practices and procedures to be incorporated into the project management plans, aligning with the Hospitals functional and operational requirements.
