On Tuesday, 17 July, the St Hilliers team met with the Hon. David Pisoni, Minister for Industry and Skills and his team including the Department of Industry and Skills’ Regional Manager, Tim Coote and Manager of Strategic Projects, Lana Blazujevic, as well as Ministerial Advisor, Kim Meier.
“It was great to meet with the Minister and his team. We spent more than 30 minutes discussing the importance of local industry engagement, employing apprentices and utilising traineeships,” said Brendan White, Project Manager at St Hilliers who attended the meeting with Dan Turnbull, Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator at St Hilliers.
“These meetings are important for St Hilliers as we are committed to boosting local industry, in particular creating training opportunities in regional areas through our projects.”
St Hilliers prides itself on enhancing their national experience and expertise with local knowledge in the wide range of projects they work on.
This local engagement occurs from the onset, with St Hilliers hosting Industry Briefings prior to projects commencing. These Industry Briefings aim to empower and provide as much information to as many local trades and subcontractors as possible to give them the best opportunity to be involved in projects occurring in their region.
St Hilliers recently held Industry Briefings in Townsville, Ipswich and Albury Wodonga in preparation for Defence contracts recently awarded in these areas and are committed to continuing this collaborative approach throughout all projects.
